Fear of being FAT
Well, not exactly a FEAR of being fat but definitely a dislike of clothes feeling tight
and an aversion to seeing 'those bulges' appearing through your clothes where there were none before !
Unfortunately for me I can really relate to that as now that I have reached a 'certain
age' , the calories are definitely starting to make an appearance around the midriff area. I must say
though that I have got away with it up until now as I've been lucky enough to be able to eat anything I wanted
all my life without putting on any weight at all, although not a popular way to be with your friends when
they constantly watch calories etc.
I've never really had to count calories ( until now) BUT although I eat relatively healthily, lots of fruit and veg, no red meat,
but I'm very guilty of snacking on chocolate, crisps and biscuits and now I'm beginning to pay the
price, a 'muffin top' as my daughter (jokingly remarks) !
The healthiest way to lose weight is neither crash diets nor
bursts of exercise as to make weight loss permanent the body likes slow changes in terms of food and
For example, someone who has not exercised for years should not rush into running miles a day, jumoping on your
bike or pounding the treadmill as not only will the struggle to do so leave you feeling disheartened and
demotivated, you're also far more likely to injure yourself and set your fitness levels back further.
So if you need to lose weight, what should you do?
Your body uses food for energy and it stores any excess energy as fat. This means if you eat more food than your
body needs for daily activities and cell maintenance, you will gain weight.
To lose weight, you need to get your body to use up these stores of fat.
Introduce changes gradually
Small changes can make a big difference. One extra biscuit a week can lead you to gain 5lb a year – cut that
biscuit out of your diet and you'll lose the same amount.
You are also more likely to stick to, say, swapping full-fat milk for semi-skimmed or making time for breakfast
each morning than a diet that sets rules for all foods.
You should think of weight loss in terms of permanently changing your eating habits. While weight-loss goals are
usually set in term of weeks, the end game is to sustain these changes over months and years.
What has been working well for me
I have a friend who recently made up her mind to finally lose some weight and get
toned up for summer and as my recent weight gain has been really beginning to bother me, we decided to try out
a diet together.
I have been reading about a diet available on the internet that has become
extremely popular so as part of my research on FAT Loss4Idiots we both started this one a few weeks ago.
There are two types of diets in this system, we did the one called BEYOND CALORIES which
is a 10 day high speed diet.
They say it is a controversial diet because you lose a large amount of weight fast, which is why we decided to
do this one.
My review of the BEYOND CALORIES 10 day high speed diet:
The principle of the Beyond Calories diet is based on 5 powerful dieting principles which allow
you to burn off calories very quickly.
This diet is filled with many HIGH SATIETY FOODS which are foods which make you
feel "full" long before you really are and they also act to keep you feeling full for a longer period of time
also. This diet can be for as long or short as you want it to be by repeating the 10 day programme again
In other words, after eating these foods your brain receives signals from your stomach,
and then your brain sends out it's own signals telling you that you feel"full" (so you won't be hungry
This diet forces even faster weight loss to happen because most of the foods on the
diet menu control the GLUCOSE OUTPUT within your bloodstream.
Most of these foods are extremely HIGH IN FIBER and they also have a
positive "G/I Rating" which forces Glucose Output to be lowered to the lowestpossible levels --- and this
forces Fast Weight Loss to happen.
The Beyond Calories diet forces even more weight loss to happen because
every single meal combines unique choices of food together.
In simpler terms, this diet is not based on eating a set "percentage" of CARBS and PROTEIN
each day. In fact, the food choices will seem very unusual to you probably, and you'll have a hard time
understanding why certain foods are to be combined at each meal while other similar foods are not allowed.
The menu is structured in such a way that it doesn't force you to combine protein foods and carb
foods in a typical pattern.
So the diet is very unique because it's not based on eating constant
percentages of protein and carbs -- instead, it combines unique foods in a special way to force fast weight loss to happen.
What I REALLY LIKED about this diet is that to maximise weight loss you eat 6
small meals a day !
I love this idea because one of the 'habits of naturally thin
people' as spoken about by Paul McKenna is to eat small meals regularly. This
forces your body to burn extra calories at each meal and as the meals are smaller than normal, you then start
to burn off body fat!
I remember a few years ago, I tried a diet of FOOD COMBINING, not
to lose weight (didn't need to at that time ) but because it was supposed to give you huge amounts
I did this for several months, basically not eating carbohydrates and protein in
the same meal and it was amazing how much energy I had during that period.
I would highly recommmend a food combining diet for increasing energy and reducing
allergies. So, when I was doing my research on the Beyond Calory diet this is one
of the main reasons why I decided to do this diet.
I've put the book link here for your information:
(Blurb from the Food Combining book:
enhances the quality of your diet, increases your intake of vitamins and minerals and improves the
way the body digests and absorbs nourishment. It is one of the safest and most successful ways to
lose weight as well as being an invaluable, natural remedy for a variety of health problems and
To cut a long story short
My friend and I completed the diet a few weeks ago, it's not difficult at all, there are plenty of
foods to choose from in each group and although the combinations are sometimes a bit unusual, it was fun to eat
differently and it didn't get boring.
She lost 1/2 a stone during this 10 day diet and was so pleased at how effective
it was that she is currently on her 2nd 10 day session.
For me, I only wanted to lose about half a stone and I managed to almost achieve that after
the first 10 days. I'm going to do a 2nd 10 day session together with lots of tummy excercises to lose the
last few pounds and I'm already feeling much more toned up.
To sum up,we would both recommend the Beyond Calond Calories
10 day diet as it is quick, easy and effective.
