Dont really worry about panic attacks
I would give you one small tip to get rid of panic attacks.
Imagine you are in the middle of the circle and panic attacks and fear full thoughts trying to attack and you are trying to avoid but it is following you.
Now what you do is let those thoughts come to you and you just ignore them and please note that it is not farmfull just ignore them and you will be ok.
Do you drink caffeinated things like energy drinks, soda, or coffee? If so, try abstaining from them to prevent the attack.
I know someone who had panic attacks, and she got prescription tranquilizers from her doctor. You might want to see a doctor if they don’t go away.
you need anti – depressants – to control your moods– zoloft is the best for panic attacks
You can go to the doctor but there are some over the counter remedies that worked for me.
I don’t know whether you’re in the UK like me but there’s a product called Rescue Remedy which is herbal.
You put a drop or two on your tongue when you feel panicky, it tastes a bit like brandy! This worked for me and I never left the house without it until the attacks stopped.
Try listening to relaxation tapes of an evening, they can teach you how to calm yourself down.
With full-fledged panic attacks symptoms include tight chest, heart pounded against chest, severe dizziness, feel of impending doom, hyperventilation, lump in throat (any or all above). If hard-core panic attacks are short-lived and infrequent, usually anti-anxiety drugs (benzodiazepines) are given short term by physician. If longer, anti-depressants are used (non-addictive) instead but take weeks-to-months to work.If its just nervousness from tests, speeches, interviews etc breath slow and deep, avoid caffeine and decongestants and tell yourself "lets get this over with".
Hi. I’m sorry to hear that you’re suffering. I know how you must feel right now. I lost my job because I was suddenly stricken down with Panic Disorder, but please don’t worry yourself sick about it just yet. It doesn’t sound like you’re suffering from anything too serious. Some of the relaxation methods already mentioned may help, or not. I hope they do.
My "Panic" Background:
I’ve been dealing with panic attacks for about 6 years now, and, from your description, it sounds as if you’re having anxiety attacks instead, since you start to feel ill due to the stress of your exams. (I’m no Doctor, though)
Panic attacks aren’t necessarily brought on by stress. In fact, they can occur at any time. The word ‘panic’ is obviously derived from the symptoms, not the cause, but I still hate it when I have to tell someone that I suffer from panic attacks. People tend to automatically think that I "panic" in any stressful situation, when that’s the farthest from the truth. I’ve never had an attack that was directly related to anxiety or stress. (that memory serves anyway)
My worst one hit me immediately after I woke one morning. I wasn’t even fully awake yet and…BAM! It hit me like a ton-of-bricks. Another occurred while driving to a nice vacation spot with my girlfriend. One second we were laughing and then… you guessed it… BAM! It hit me in mid-laugh and I barely got safely stopped on the shoulder of the damn freeway. Despite being on three different medications, I’m not able to work at the moment because of my panic disorder. (I’ve taken every med made for this condition – or so it seems) Although the attacks are a lot less frequent, they still hit me like a tidal wave sometimes, and when least expected. >_<
In any event, take the advice of the other posters that recommended seeing a good Doctor. Making an appointment to visit to a M.D. is alright, but seeing a good Psychiatrist would be better. Everyone experiences Anxiety and/or Panic attacks differently, so having some quality talk time will better guarantee that you’re put on the correct medications, if necessary. Take heart that in many cases this condition can be controlled through behavior modification by therapy alone. Your psychiatrist can recommend a good psychologist or general therapist for you.
Good luck!
