What causes panic attacks? Anxiety can be caused by a number of different triggers. In your case, you might not even know.

When my wife was driving, a certain junction was her trigger. Every time she stopped at that junction, it hit her. Out of the blue a panic attack would swoop.

Your panic attacks may be caused by something you don’t yet know. But get to the bottom of it and it will be the same thing every time. Could be a crowded area. Any crowded area will set them off.

You may be clueless as to your panic attacks causes. It’s important to find out what they are though. It can help enormously in combating the symptoms.

My heart starts pouding and my breathing becomes shallow, I feel tearful and nervous but don’t know why – they come at any time and I’ve never had anything like this before. Calling all panic/anxiety attack sufferers!?

I am a 32 year old female who is having the most awful symptoms. My heart races and I become dizzy and tight chested, which I am reliably informed are all symptoms of panic or anxiety attacks. However, what most sufferers don’t experience is a crushing sensation in the head (usually one sided until I have a full-on attack and then it is both) and I have weakness down the right or both sides of my body. The symptoms can last from 10 minutes to nearly an hour generally, although I can get the pressure on the right side of my head for anything up to 24 hours and this happens most days (although there is no pain so I don’t think it could be migraine). I think this sounds more like a stroke but I have been told by numerous medical professionals that it is certainly not a stroke. I have had cardiac tests that have shown there is nothing wrong with my heart but, to cut a long story short, do any other panic attack sufferers get the same symptoms?

Panic attacks?

I started to have panic attacks, two years ago. There was a good reason, and i was given medication to help, and got over them.
I am now getting them again, and i am desperate to know how to deal with them, without medication. I have a lot going for me, a good life, and a lot of good things going on, but certain people, family, run to me for support, when their life is troubled. I want to help, but i am getting stressed, and i get attacks, where, i cannot breathe, my heart races, i cannot sleep, i feel faint, can`t catch my breath, and just end up crying. It goes off for a few hours, then attacks me again. I have had a medical, and have a healthy heart and lungs, told it is just anxiety attacks. I can`t cope with them, i feel terified when they come on, please can anyone tell me how to calm down during an attack, so it goes away?
