I’m taking a speech class in the summer and I’m extremely nervous about it! I have a history of depressive anxiety. I already see a psychiatrist too. Is it possible to get Xanax or some other quick acting anxiety medication for the days I have to give a speech? What’s the medication called that they give people when they have a fear of flying? I know it’s an anxiety medication!

I am always scared of taking medications/anti – depressants ect. Because when I was young my doctor thought I was depressed and the medication I took (Serzone) made me feel horrible – and very depressed. Now that I am older (28) I am starting to have panic attacks. I don’t take any medication but I am considering something for my attacks even though they are somewhat minor. Any suggestions, also is there an herbal route?

My Best Friend suffers from panic attacks and always asks for me when she falls in to one. I think she does because i can deal with epilepsy sufferers but i dont know what else to help with other than sit with her and watch her breath into a bag and talk to her. Shes on medication but that only makes her sleep then wake up in absolute fear. What else can i do?

I’m 25 and broke up with my ex gf of 4 years about 6 months back now and am keen to start meeting new people again, however since the breakup I’ve started having problems with panic/anxiety. Whilst im busy sorting it out with medication/counselling, im worried that it will happen on a date.
It’s a worst case scenario, but if it did happen on a date, are girls generally likely to be ok about it or run a mile?

Does this medication have a sedative effect so if someone took it they would remain calm under pressure?
How long does it take for it to start working?

I have never had any panic attacks until a few days ago. I drank heavily for 3 days straight and have had two panic attacks since. I have never taken any medication at all for anxiety, depression, etc. Also, are there any ways to never have them again?

She started having panic attacks in the mourning and blackouts. She went to the Doctor and he perscribed anti-depressants for her and told her she had a chemical inbalance. The Doctor didn’t test her or anything he just asked her question for about ten minutes then perscribed anti-depressants. He later then got his license to practice medicine taken away. Her panic attacks went away but eventually she will have to go off the medication. I have been reading about panic attacks and I am psych major so I understand a little bit about the brain and disorders can anyone help shed more light on the subject of panic attacks and black outs?

Is it better to have a few days off to calm yourself? Or do you go straight back to work, armed with your medication?!!
(I have got myself in a vicious cycle where panic attacks are happening at work and am wondering what the best option is)

I’ve been suffering from panic attacks now for months and it’s gotten to the point where i don’t like leaving the house anymore. I’m on medication for it and i’m waiting to see a counsellor but i’d like to find someone that is either going through the same thing or has been through it to talk to. I don’t like talking to my family or friends about it, they make me feel like i’m going crazy.
Is there anyone that can help me?
